Brighter Kensington & Chelsea Award
The Meanwhile Wildlife Garden was presented with 2nd Prize for the Brighter Kensington and Chelsea Scheme Platinum Jubilee Gardening Competition, in the Educational/Wildlife/School Garden category. The award was presented to the Meanwhile Wildlife Gardens and Kensington and Chelsea Mind by the Deputy Mayor of RBKC, Councillor Dori Schmetterling, at a ceremony on 6th November 2023.
This is the culmination of 2 years’ hard work by trainees and volunteers to bring the garden back to life following the lockdowns, growing hundreds of plants from seed and planting them out in the new orchard and around the garden.
Special mention to carpenter, M.M, who uses skill and ingenuity to create fences, gates and benches from pallets and scrap wood gathered from the neighbourhood. Congratulations to all involved.
If you are a resident of Kensington and Chelsea and access mental health support with one of the Hubs and would like to be part of our award-winning team, our City and Guilds training program runs Tuesdays and Thursdays.
