To our Service Users, Stakeholders and Community Partners
Dear RBK&C Colleagues,
I am writing to inform you of the very exciting merger between Kensington and Chelsea Mind and Brent, Wandsworth and Westminster Mind.
For many years Kensington and Chelsea and Brent, Wandsworth and Westminster Minds have been working together, under the auspices of the KCW Mind Partnership, to develop and deliver services based on local need aligned to the KCW mental health commissioning strategies for adults and children and young people. After a period of exploration and consultation we have decided to formally consolidate our work as one Mind entity. We have taken this decision to:
- Integrate Mind, as one entity, aligned with KCW commissioning strategies and priorities, based on local need
- Streamline referral pathways between BWW CYP and K&C Adults Mental Health Services delivered in RBK&C
- Increase our size, resources and scale for enhanced sustainability and resilience in a changing commissioning landscape
- Strengthen and consolidate our presence in local commissioning, localised services, and cross-borough partnerships
- Establish a robust ‘offer’ for joint commissioning to address gaps service provision
- To continue to provide value for money and the most cost-effective services for our beneficiaries and value for money for our stakeholders and commissioners.
The merger between Kensington and Chelsea Mind and Brent Wandsworth and Westminster Mind will take place on December 2nd, 2024, Mind. In due course, the merged entity will be known as West Central London Mind, covering Kensington and Chelsea, Brent, Wandsworth and Westminster.
We do not envisage any disruption to the continuity and delivery of Kensington and Chelsea Mind services or referral arrangements. The KCW Mind Partnership management team currently collaborates and manages a number of cross Borough services and have established relationships with commissioners, partners and networks across Kensington, Chelsea and Westminster.
The merger coincides with my retirement from Mind, and I will be leaving on November 22nd, 2024. It has been a pleasure to work with so many inspiring colleagues and partnerships over the years and this exciting development will allow Mind to consolidate and expand into a resilient and sustainable future.
