Mind Skills Development Service
Pre-vocational and vocational Accredited Training, Work Experience and Employment Support
The Skills Development Service offers a three-step training and work experience programme for people who are currently unable to access mainstream training and employment services due to mental ill health.
Our aims
The service aims to help individuals develop marketable skills and the work related disciplines necessary to access and maintain further education and maximise employment opportunities. This is achieved within a formal work and training environment.
Our methods
Using a person centred approach, qualified tutors work with trainees to assess their skills and strengths and to define their education and employment aspirations, as well as any barriers to learning. A training plan is designed for each individual and monitored to enable them to progress and succeed in their goals. Trainees work to achieve nationally accredited qualifications.
Meeting your needs
Individuals who meet the eligibility criteria can undertake up to two years training and work experience. They can also access any part of the programme if they have gained the skills and experience in other settings and wish to undertake a short refresher course.
